With support from Eva Penney
Hamburger formed in Bristol in 2018, when Fearghall Kilkenny, from Brixton, south London, began writing songs with Tom Kelly after a fateful meeting in a fast food joint. Since then, Hamburger have steadily grown in confidence and influence in the Bristol scene, and have played Dot to Dot Festival, Wanderfal, Breakfest and Inglefest, as well as having supported the likes of Trust Fund and Martha.
‘Beat Back the Ghouls’ marks the next chapter in the band’s development, and will surely see the band go from strength to strength as they continue to rise.
Hamburger say, “Hamburger write stupid pop songs about their stupid feelings. Emo-tinged bangers from the void between goofy and gloomy. Sometimes melancholic, mostly moronic but always packed full of those juicy juicy hooks to help you grow big and strong.”
Eva Penny
Captivating and at times cutting, Eva Penney has always been honest in her music, constantly treading an uneasy line between metaphor and truth. With a sound inspired by alternative and acoustic folk, the electronic and DIY elements weaved into her recordings and performances create a unique and warming listening experience.
Over the course of 2024, Eva released a set of tracks no different to the family of releases she has been dutifully crafting over the past couple of years; they’re warm and quietly personal, littered with downright odd but carefully chosen samples, and are so DIY they feel like home.
Show starts at 7:30pm.
