Barry Jitter, more akin to a circus ringleader than a musician, will act as a deranged compere to an evening of love, laughs and most of all, great music at Bristol’s Louisiana on this very special night. Having laid down the lager and found Jesus, Barry decided his heart no longer lay in the wild life of an outlaw country singer, and instead in the soft embrace of showbiz. He has handpicked some of his favourite performers in the city, ranging between the genres of punk rock, jangle pop, gospel and experimental folk, to grace this inaugural night of Barry Jitter Presents. People: lay down your guns, open your heart, and walk down Wapping Road to experience a night you’ll never forget – for better or worse.

Junction

Junction is the live band incarnation of Bristol based artist Alfie Demos, conceived with the mission of bringing to life the songs from his solo records. The band features a few members of Looney Bergonzi and other musicians active in the Bristol scene. The sound could be described as slacker rock, bedroom pop or gloomy folk.

Barry Jitter & The Special Brew

Barry Jitter is the self-described “antifolk heir to the Bedminster fortune.” Penman to a set of songs only able to be categorised three ways: LOVE, INTOXICANTS, or HANGING FROM A ROPE. And it only gets better when he has his Special Brew, the rotating cast of “musicians” act as the shambolic actualisation incarnate of his strange and unique world. Percussionista Sleazy and bassist Oli O-Ring transform the usually deregulated off-kilter folk into a hearty mixture of country, punk and jangle pop. The looseness is the unique selling point: “Barry Jitter, always different, always the same.”

Bruno Bof (of the Outrageous Methods of Presentation)

Bruno used to be a teenage prodigy, now he’s just a run of the mill, grownup genius. In a set surprisingly devoid of the OMP, he will perform on his own two feet, accompanied solely by a drummer. His songs are reminiscent of 60’s/70’s garage rock, while incorporating elements of rockabilly and hardcore punk. Despite this, his lyrical choices turn the aforementioned genres on their heads and simultaneously enrapture audiences wherever he goes – whether that be Gloucester Road or Camden Town. Make it down early as to not miss Bedminster’s punk-rock darling in aktion!
