Bristol Beacon Presents:
Sons of Sevilla @ The Louisiana Bristol

Sons of Sevilla live at The Louisiana, Bristol. Saturday, 3rd October 2026.

Later in the year, sibling duo Sons of Sevila will return with their third and most musically assured album to date, the sun-soaked swell of It Could Be Today. To give us a flavour of what to come, Reuben Vaun Smith and Henry Smith have offered up languid, blissful and emotive single ‘Drive By Honey’, the album’s gorgeous opening statement.

The single’s gestation, like that of the album it introduces, can be traced back to the formation of the Sons of Sevilla live band and a first life-changing tour of the United States. Supporting prolific musician and producer Skinshape (William Dorey), the Sons of Sevilla criss-crossed North America while taking time out to write and record in Los Angeles and New Jersey.

Returning home to their native West Yorkshire, England, with a headful of ideas and a new perspective, the pair reached out to Dorey, famously formerly bassist with London alt-rockers Palace, to see if he would help them shape the sound of their new album. He agreed, and the pair headed down to his studio – renowned for being stacked with vintage instruments and recording equipment – to record the follow-up to their critically acclaimed sophomore set, 2025’s Street Light Moon.

The results are startling and stunning, with the Smith brothers subtly evolving their signature sound – a nostalgic, wide-eyed and dreamy affair full of gentle nods to psychedelia and ‘60s dream-pop – to incorporate audible nods to languid West Coast rock and heady blue-eyed soul.

‘Drive By Honey’, the album’s first single, offers a tantalising glimpse of what to expect from It Could Be Today. Featuring Dorey on bass and additional guitar, and Ben Spruce on drums, the song sees Reuben Vaun Smith’s sweet, eyes-closed vocals rise above a languid, lolloping groove, effects-laden side guitar, simmering strings and warm keys. The aural equivalent of heat haze rising from the California Pacific Coast Highway, it’s a sublime song to – as Reuben Vaun Smith sings – “start the story”.

That story, written in vivid aural colours and rooted in the brothers’ gift for songwriting and emotion-stirring arrangements, will be told in full on October 2 when It Could Be Today lands in record shops worldwide. ‘Drive By Honey’ will be released by Ubiquity Records on June 10, with further teaser singles due in the weeks and months ahead.

Show starts at 7:30pm.
